Seminary Fall 2024 Events
Open House
The fourth annual Seminary Open House was a source of joy and fellowship as the seminary monks and seminarians hosted donors and friends under a big tent. Nearly 200 people came together for Sunday Eucharist and lunch on August 25. Seminarians Collin Thielen and Eric Wachira shared their testimonies with the guests, and the seminary administration shared updates and prayed with the group. This annual event has become a great way to begin the academic year and for donors to get to know the seminarians they pray for and support.
Alumni Reunion
This year’s Alumni Reunion, September 8-9, was well attended by alumni of all ages and vocations. Highlights of this year’s event included a panel discussion of seminarians, a talk on the new discipleship stage, Eucharist and a banquet. The annual board meeting and tours of the relic chapel at nearby Clyde rounded out the two-day reunion. Ron and Tammy Myers received the Distinguished Alumni Award for their work with the Permanent Diaconate program in the Diocese of Des Moines. Next year’s reunion is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, September 8-9. We invited classes celebrating anniversaries to planning now.
Thunder Cup
The Thunder Cup tournament brought much success for the Sons of Thunder. Five seminary teams competed in a thrilling volleyball, soccer, and spikeball tournament. Conception Seminary College took home 1st place in the volleyball tournament and secured 2nd place in soccer! Conception hosted more than 100 seminarians from St. Gregory the Great in Seward, Nebraska; St. John Vianney Theological Seminary in Denver, Colorado; St. Francis de Sales Seminary in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary in Denton, Nebraska.
PFP Day of Giving
The PFP (Partnering for Future Priests) Day of Giving proved successful once again. Donors, organizations, and sponsors came together to raise more than $150,000 in support of Conception Seminary College’s mission. With the theme of “Missionary Disciples,” nearly 200 friends generously responded to the call to give. This online day of giving began in 2020 and has continued to grow year after year.
