Seminarians Celebrate TET: Experience Other Cultures

At 3:30 pm Monday afternoon, Conception students and staff left their desks and activities to join in the TET Celebration in the Student Union put on by the Vietnamese community at Conception.

A yearly event, TET is a shortened version of Tet Nguyen Dan, which is the most important celebration of the Vietnamese culture. It is the Vietnamese version of the Lunar New Year and is a festival for all to celebrate.

Seminarians from the Congregation of the Mother Co-Redemprix, as well as Vietnamese students who study at Conception, put work and time into cooking their homeland’s most recognized dishes. These students also decorated the Union and gave Conception a small taste of the TET experience. One of the favorite parts for many students was the opportunity of picking a red envelope from a small tree that contained a surprise; for example, a prayer card, or if you were lucky, a 2 dollar bill.

It was all smiles and laughter as students and staff enjoyed the party.
