Our Lady of Guadalupe : Most Popular Woman in Seminary
This past Saturday on December 12th, Conception Seminary celebrated the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. It was a great expression of the passion many students hold for the patroness of the Americas. Many students of Hispanic background and non-Hispanic background spent hours setting up an ‘altar’ in honor of La Virgen de Guadalupe for all to see in the Basilica during the Mass celebrated by Fr. Enrique, a chaplain in the seminary. The Conception Mariachi Band practiced for many weeks leading up to the feast to play for the Mass.
The Mariachi Band included over 20 seminarians playing instruments and singing. Afterward, many joined the Mariachi Band to sing Las Manañitas to La Virgen de Guadalupe. Many guests, including sisters from the nearby Clyde Convent, joined the seminarians in the student refectory to watch a play put on by some of the seminarians. The play was the story of Juan Diego and the apparition of Our Lady of Guadalupe. After the play, a banquet of traditional Mexican food was served for all to enjoy!
