God WANTS – Lenten Reflection by Ben Rogers

“I will heal their defection, says the LORD, I will love them freely; for my wrath is turned away from them.” (Hos 14:5) God WANTS to heal us. God WANTS us to be close to him. It is our choices that take us away from God. It is our decisions that cause a gap to form. Like any relationship, when one person has rejected, harmed, or denied another person, it is the harmed person’s role to choose to forgive. It is the responsibility of the one who caused the pain to ask for the forgiveness. God WANTS us, but we must ask. We must choose to act in repentance. We must embrace reconciliation with God. When we do, God will not only forgive us, He will heal us as well. We can experience the love which we are meant to experience. We can experience the joy which only God can give.
