PhilPapers
Comprehensive index and bibliography of philosophy maintained by community of philosophers. To access sources found, click the DOI number if available. If not available, check the library catalog for the book title or journal title to find in print or online.

Atla Religion Database
Atla Religion Database is an index of articles, reviews, and essays in all fields of religion and theology.

Encyclopedia Britannica
Academic encyclopedia geared towards college students with short and long entries written by Nobel laureates, historians, curators, professors and other notable experts. Good for getting acquainted with a research topic.

Gale Virtual Reference
Online reference books including the New Catholic Encyclopedia, Encyclopedia of Religion, Encyclopedia of Philosophy and others in Art, History, Literature, Science and Social Science.

Oxford Reference
Online reference product, spanning 25 different subject areas, bringing together 2 million digitized entries across Oxford University Press’s DictionariesCompanions, and Encyclopedias. Good for background details on more specialized topics.

Routledge Encyclopedia of Philosophy
Online Encyclopedia providing access to over 2,700 articles that have been edited for level and consistency by a team of renowned subject experts.

A comprehensive database of American genealogical and historical sources—rich in unique primary sources, local and family histories, and finding aids. 

Learning Express Library
Online tutorials, practice tests, and e-books to help patrons of all ages. Offers skill building in reading, writing, math, and basic science, college and grad school entrance test prep, TOEFL test prep, and more.

Cambridge Companions Online.
The Cambridge Companions to Philosophy, Religion, and Culture offer specially-commissioned collections of essays which are intended to serve as reference works for an interdisciplinary audience of students and non-specialists. Addressing topics and figures ranging from Plato through Kant to Habermas, and philosophical movements such as the Scottish Enlightenment and German Idealism.

Digital Public Library of America
Online database of photographs, books, maps, news footage, oral histories, personal letters, museum objects, artwork, government documents, and so much more that are held within America’s libraries, archives, museums, and other cultural heritage institutions.  Online items are free and immediately available in digital format.

Directory of Open Access Journals
Community-curated online directory that indexes and provides access to high quality, open access, peer-reviewed journals.

Google Scholar
Freely accessible web search engine that indexes the full text or metadata of scholarly literature across an array of publishing formats and disciplines

GRAFT
A database that searches across all known academic repositories, full-text and records alike. A beta service from JURN, and current to May 2018. 

Hathitrust
A partnership of academic & research institutions, offering a collection of millions of titles digitized from libraries around the world.

Internet Archive
Non-profit library of millions of free books, movies, software, music, websites, and more.

JSTOR
Online journal Database.  Articles published before 1923 are freely available.  Register for MyJSTOR to access 1,200 more journal titles for free.  For assistance, contact a librarian.
